Home Sweet Home

Here's a peek at our new apartment! As I mentioned before, we looked a bunch of places (online and in person) and eventually settled on this one.

We knew we wanted a place that had the following to offer:
  • short commute to work
  • close to friends
  • nice amenities, including a fitness center
  • secure area
We also wanted all of this within our budget, of course! This apartment offered everything we were looking for except for a fitness center. Luckily there's a YMCA nearby that we can join at a reasonable cost. I'm especially excited to be near our friends and not so far from work.

I'm looking forward to moving in and getting settled! (These photos were taken before we painted the walls a sage green color!)

Couples' Shower

We had our third and final shower on Saturday night. It was a Mexican fiesta-themed couples' shower hosted by six of our closest friends -- friends who obviously know our love (mine, especially) for Mexican food.

Throughout our 14-month engagement, it's been so amazing to see all the love and support from our family and friends. We're so lucky to have such caring and thoughtful friends, and our families have really been more than helpful. I couldn't ask for better support. I was reminded of all that on Saturday, when so many people came to celebrate!

Saturday Brunch With My Coworkers

My coworkers hosted a wonderful shower for me on Saturday!

I feel so lucky to be part of such an amazing team of smart, funny, creative women! (Yes, all women.) I've learned so much from them over the past three years -- lessons about everything from branding, communication and logos to babies, pregnancy and marriage.

The shower was hosted at my coworker Jennifer's home, and the decor and food couldn't have been more perfect. They got Brian and me generous gifts for our new home together!

April Showers

I had my first bridal shower last weekend -- one hosted by a few of my best friends' moms!

I was so impressed by their decorations and dessert displays, I had to take a few photos.

The shower was kitchen themed, so Brian and I recieved lots of good stuff to stock our kitchen. I can't wait to use it all!

We also played a game where the guests had to write vows for Brian and me to say to each other. I had to promise things like: "I will stay up past 8 p.m. a few nights of the week."

I've been to quite a few wedding showers, but it's weird to be "guest of honor." I never thought this wedding would come -- 14 months is a long time to be engaged. It's crazy to think it's right around the corner, and the bridal shower definitely made it feel more real.

Invitations, Check!

Wedding invitations were stuffed, stamped and mailed yesterday! So glad to cross that off the list.
