I Love Oxford

On Wednesday night, my mom asked to come along with me on a special work project Friday night. She wanted to see what I do! My work project took me to Pontotoc, Miss. -- about an hour and 45 minutes away. We decided that rather than drive the whole way back afterwards, we'd stop in Oxford, Miss., and stay at a bed and breakfast. It was a great decision. We had so much fun!

We checked into The 512 just before 8 p.m. and were so pleased with our room. The whole inn was full of historic charm, yet was very sophisticated. The 512 was built in 1905 by a local doctor and used as an eye clinic in the 20s. It was renovated most recently in 2008. (I took these pictures of it Saturday morning because it was too dark when we arrived.)

After we checked in and dropped off our bags, we walked to dinner on the square. We ate at McEwen's, which is new to Oxford, and had delicious steak and plenty of wine! It's a good thing the bed was comfortable because we were exhausted!

Saturday morning we had a full Southern breakfast in the inn, went to the farmer's market and walked around the square. We ended our fun mother/daughter trip with a Bloody Mary!
