But lo and behold...I found my dress! We bought it, and I can't wait until it arrives in November.

"Low's" and Behold
On Saturday, my mom, sister and I went to Low's Bridal and Formal Shop in Brinkley, Ark., to shop for my wedding dress. Our goal for this first shopping experience was to try on some different styles -- just to see what I like and narrow down some options. After all, we still have 10.5 months until our wedding.

Will You Be My Bridesmaid?
I finally got around to officially asking my bridesmaids! For the longest time, I couldn't decide how I wanted to ask. Ideas I looked up online seemed too cheesy or over-the-top. I decided to ask with handmade cards, which I purchased from this Etsy shop.
The owner was great and really easy to work with. She completed my order so quickly!
I have seven bridesmaids, including my sister, Leah, who will be my maid of honor. I officially asked her back in April on her birthday. She was expecting a birthday cake at the end of our dinner out, but instead got this one.

A Weekend at Pickwick
It's been way too long since I've been to the Olson lake house. Finally, this weekend, I got to go.
It was so much fun with all eight of us. The majority of the group went down Friday night, but Brian, Lizzy and I got there Saturday morning. We left extra early so we'd be able to spend the day on the lake!
It was cloudy for most of the day. At lunch time, a huge thunderstorm rolled in...right as we got to the dock with hot dogs and chips for everyone. The sun eventually came out after the storm cleared.
It was such a great time!

Father's Day
Happy Father's Day to my dad!
To celebrate our dad, Leah and I took the four of us to dinner at Local Gastropub, a restaurant my dad's been wanting to try. It was delicious and fun! We all left stuffed.

Five Years Ago
Five years ago today, Brian and I went on our first date, a movie date to see The Da Vinci Code. Since that first date, we've shared some great times together.
and started new chapters...
We have gone on hiking trips...
cheered at football games...
traveled to the beach with friends...
shared lots of good meals...
gone camping...
hit the slopes (sort of)...
partied at several sorority/fraternity formals, date parties, mixers, etc...
ridden roller coasters (which Brian hates)...
celebrated friends' marriages...
and started new chapters...
I can't wait for a lifetime of more memories!

The Adams in Birmingham
This weekend, my mom, dad, sister and I headed to Birmingham. Brian has lived there for a year now, and my parents have never seen the area. This weekend seemed like the perfect time to show them around. Leah and I arrived Friday evening. We picked up Brian and went to dinner at Tavern on the Summit close to home.
We were tired after the drive (and work) and wanted something easy. Then we went back to the apartment to have some wine (and German beer, courtesy of Meg!) and watch a movie. We attempted to play scrabble, but the movie was more appealing.
My parents arrived early Saturday morning. We immediately went to the Soho area of Homewood to browse around the shops and have lunch. We ate at Urban Cookhouse -- a neat little cafe with local, organic food.
Brian and my dad were patient as Leah, my mom and I hit nearly every shop, including our favorite -- At Home. Such cute home decor and furniture.
They did get some quality bonding time, though, over a couple beers while we shopped! I also especially enjoyed a cute shop called Weddings Etc. I bought my garter! :)
Saturday night we went to dinner at Dram Whiskey Bar and had a blast! Dram is a neat restaurant with great burgers...and whiskey! The walls are made wood from a whiskey distillery.

Sunday we stayed for a while. We went on a walk, toured some Birmingham neighborhoods, saw Brian's school, ate lunch and shopped some more. I also had my yogurt fix for the weekend at 32 Degrees. Yogurt is necessary when it's hot and humid!
By 4 p.m. we left Birmingham and headed home. It was a great weekend, and I'm glad my parents got to see where Brian lives. I can't wait until Brian and I live in the same city though!!
